221 companies in Germany produced either weapons or ammunition in 2020. Consequently, Germany had the most robust arms manufacturing industry among all European Union (E-27) member states. Italy and France had the second and third most enterprises in the segment with 157 and 122 manufacturers respectively. Estonia and Lithuania ranked among the countries with the smallest weapons or ammunition manufacturing industry, while also being among the countries with the highest defense spending GDP share.
