Définition Quantitative data

Variables, whose values are interval-scaled and metrical, are called quantitative data. Typical examples are body weight, income or IQ score. For these variables, we can perform various mathematical calculations, such as the calculation of an arithmetic mean.

We differ between quantitative data that are interval-scaled (without an absolute zero) and quantitative data that are ratio-scaled (with an absolute zero).

Also note that ordinal scales are described as 'seemingly quantitative', but strictly speaking, they are qualitative (see also qualitative data).
