Global e-waste generation 2022, by type
In 2022, temperature exchange equipment such as fridges and air-conditioning units amounted to 13.3 million metric tons of global e-waste. Small equipments accounted for the largest share of e-waste generation, at 20.4 million metric tons.
Electronic waste is the world's fastest growing waste stream, and is becoming a global environmental issue. Often, e-waste is either landfilled or incinerated, causing health risks to humans as dangerous toxins are released.
