Netherlands: share of people reading books daily

Survey results indicate that the share of people who read books daily or almost daily in the Netherlands fluctuated but overall decreased between 2013 and 2023. In 2013, 37 percent of those surveyed indicated that they read paper or digital books daily or almost daily, whereas by 2017 just over 26 percent of respondents did so. After 2017, the share of daily readers increased to 33 percent again in 2021 and 2022. However, figures dropped again in 2023, as 29 percent of those surveyed stated to reade books daily or almost daily.
