The mortgage interest rate in France had been on a downward trend for nearly a decade, until it started to rise in 2022. In the first quarter of 2023, the interest rate amounted to 2.37 percent, up from 1.13 percent during the same period in 2022. A similar trend can be observed across most European countries.
