Financing of theatrical feature film productions in Canada from 2009-2021, by source
From April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021, the financing of theatrical feature film productions in Canada totaled approximately 268 million Canadian dollars, of which almost one-fifth (51 million dollars) came from foreign pre-sales and advances. A year earlier, the sum added up to 290 million dollars, of which more than one-fifth (68 million dollars) came from Telefilm Canada, a state-owned enterprise dedicated to the Canadian audiovisual industry. The number of jobs generated by Canada's movie production sector reached a record low in the 2020/21 season.
