Major home & household appliances manufacturers worldwide ranked by revenue 2022

In 2022, six household appliances manufacturers worldwide surpassed 10 billion U.S. dollars in revenue with Haier Smart Home leading the ranking with around 35 billion U.S. dollars. The other companies with annual revenues north of 10 billion U.S. dollars are LG, Whirlpool, Midea, BSH Home Appliances, and Electrolux.

European and Chinese companies lead the way

The major players shown in the statistic are located in Europe and China with LG (South Korea) and Whirlpool (United States) as the exception. Midea and Haier Smart Home are Chinese companies, while BSH Home Appliances, Electrolux, Groupe SEB, Arcelik, and Miele are headquartered in Europe. The strong position of some of the European companies stems in part from their long-standing market presence providing them with strong brand recognition. The German home appliances manufacturer Miele for example can look back on more than 120 years of company history, with the company founded in 1899.

Home appliances segments

The home and household appliances market is made up of two major segments: major and small appliances. The major appliances category includes amongst others refrigerators, freezers, stoves, cookers, ovens, washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers. Examples of small appliances on the other hand are coffee machines, food processors, vacuum cleaners, microwaves, and blenders. The overall retail sales value of household appliances across all categories worldwide is forecast to exceed 450 billion U.S. dollars by 2023.
