In France in 2023, State Medical Aid expenditure was almost 1.15 billion euros, and was expected to amount to nearly 1.21 billion euros in 2024. The State Medical Aid (Aide Médicale d'Etat in French) is a device allowing foreigners in an irregular situation to benefit from access to care. It is granted under conditions of residence and resources. To apply, a file must be completed, and once awarded, state medical assistance is granted for one year.
