Over half of the global outstanding loans by Citigroup in 2022 were consumer loans. Meanwhile, commercial loans amounted to nearly 300 billion U.S. dollars that year. Citigroup has its headquarters in New York and, therefore, most of its outstanding loans were in the U.S. and Canada. Nevertheless, it also had a significant amount of loans outstanding outside North America, reaching a value of 285 billion U.S. dollars in 2021.
