Importance of public service news media worldwide 2023

According to a global study on news consumption held in early 2023, public service news media was considered important to society by more than 60 percent of respondents in Norway, Denmark, and Finland, and consumers in these countries were also among the most likely to say they felt public service media was important to them personally. Japanese respondents were somewhat of an anomaly among the countries shown, with only a very small share considering public service news media to be of importance.
