Acquisition budget for defense equipment through FMS in Japan FY 2017-2022
For the fiscal year 2022, the Japanese Ministry of Defense (MOD) has provided approximately 379.7 billion Japanese yen for the acquisition of military equipment through foreign military sales (FMS). Representative items include military equipment such as the F-35A jet fighter for the Air Self-Defense Forces, the SM-3 Block IIA ship-based surface-to-air missile system for the Maritime Self-Defense Forces, and the V-22 Osprey (vertical takeoff and landing aircraft) for the Ground Self-Defense Forces.
