Number of countries by nuclear power status in Europe 2023
In 2023, nuclear reactors were under construction in four European countries, namely France, Slovakia, the United Kingdom, and Russia. Italy phased-out nuclear power in 1987, Lithuania exited nuclear power in 2009, and Germany in 2023. 13 European countries were not planning the construction of new nuclear reactors: Belarus, Romania, Czechia, Hungary, Slovenia, Finland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Belgium.
