Export value of tropical fruits Thailand 2024, by type of fruits
As of March 2024, the export value of durians reached approximately 2.32 billion Thai baht, the highest value among exports of other tropical fruits. This was followed by young coconuts and mango. In comparison, the total import value of fruits and products in Thailand amounted to around 51.33 billion Thai baht in 2023.
The international trade of Thailand’s tropical fruits
Thailand is one of the world's key exporters of tropical fruits due to many factors such as fruitful geographical conditions, agricultural promotions, and certainly the free trade agreements that Thailand has with other nations. As of December 2023 alone, Thailand's export volume of tropical fruits amounted to over 11 billion Thai baht. As for imports, China was Thailand's main importer of fruits as it accounted for the highest share of fruits and products' import value in 2022, amounting to around 51 percent.
Overview on the production of Thailand’s tropical fruits
Based on the export value, some of Thailand's most popular tropical fruits are durian, young coconut, longan, pomelo, pineapple, mango, and tangerine. As the king of fruits, durian is among the most consumed fruit in Thailand. Durians are mainly produced in the central region of Thailand, the same as most other tropical fruits. In 2023, the production volume of durians amounted to over 1.47 million metric tons.
