Annual contributions of hotels and restaurants to GDP in Ghana 2013-2020
In 2020, hotels and restaurants in Ghana contributed around 3.9 billion Ghanaian cedis (GHS), roughly 640.9 million U.S. dollars, to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This was a notable decrease from the preceding years, possibly due to the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the country. Within the period reviewed, a peak of nearly six billion GHS, roughly 985.8 million U.S. dollars, was registered in 2019, continuing the rising trend observed since 2014. Overall, the total consumer spending on restaurants and hotels in Ghana was projected to reach over 2.43 billion U.S. dollars in 2021.
