In 2022, political parties in Japan, including headquarters and branches, generated total revenue of around 80.1 billion Japanese yen, of which the largest share was from party subsidies granted by the Japanese government. To limit private donations and promote fair political activities, the government implemented the party subsidies system in 1995.
