Share of child attendance in educational institutions in South Africa 2014-2020
In 2020, the share of children between zero and six attending educational institutions in South Africa was lower than those not enrolled. However, over the years reviewed, the percentage of children enrolled in educational institutions dropped noticeably in 2016 before slowly recovering and falling again in 2020 as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, the share of children in educational institutions was lower in 2020 than in 2014.
