Maritime transportation in the European Union produced a total of 143 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (MtCO₂) emissions in 2021. Of this total, 15.7 MtCO₂ were produced by domestic navigation, while 127.6 MtCO₂ were attributable to international navigation.
