Between 2007 and 2018, the number of annual trips made by public transport in Paris and Île-de-France progressively increased. In 2018, more than 4.7 billion trips were made by public transportation in this region, compared with approximately 3.9 billion in 2007. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of public transport trips in Paris and the Île-de-France region suffered a sharp year-on-year decrease of around 43 percent, falling to 2.6 billion.
