In 2020, a majority of French women agreed that social pressure played a role on their decision to wear makeup regularly. However, the influence of peers was not evaluated equally among all of them. 45 percent of women wearing makeup regularly declared that they were doing it more for themselves than for others. Conversely, 4 percent of women deemed the influence of other people more significant than their own will to put makeup on.
