Global chemical M&A deals share by subsector 2020

In 2019 and 2020, merger and acquisition deals in the global chemical industry reported a total value of 139 billion U.S. dollars and 68 billion U.S. dollars respectively. In both years, transactions within the industrial organic and inorganic chemicals subsector were the most valuable, accounting for a 26 percent share of total chemical industry M&A value worldwide in 2019, and 23 percent in 2020.
