In 2022, the value of Islamic banking assets worldwide amounted to 3.2 trillion U.S. dollars. In the same year, the total assets value of global Islamic finance markets amounted to about 4.5 trillion U.S. dollars.

*Takaful:
Is an Islamic insurance which complies to Shariah law, wherein members contribute money into a pool system to guarantee each other against loss or damage. Those insurances where introduced as an alternative to conventional insurances as they avoid interest, high risk investments and high uncertainties.

**Sukuk:
Is a financial product complying to sharia law. It is a financial certificate comparable to a bond which allows the issuer to sell those sukuks to investors in order to purchase and assets of which investors have a partial ownership. The sukuk issuer is contractually bound to buy back those sukuks at a future date as per value. The main difference between a sukuk and a conventional bond is the abstention from accumulating interest.
