FDI in the Mexican mining sector 2009-2022
Foreign direct investment received by the mining sector in Mexico plummeted in 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. That year, less than 300 million U.S. dollars were invested in the country, a year-over-year decrease of 55 percent. Nevertheless, investments picked up in 2021, with more than 2.85 billion dollars - the highest figure recorded since 2013. The United States is the main origin of foreign direct investment in Mexico.
