As of March 2024, "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens" (2015) ranked as the highest-grossing PG-13-rated movie in the United States and Canada. The film generated almost 937 million U.S. dollars at the North American box office. In second place was "Avengers: Endgame" (2019) with a lifetime gross of over 858 million U.S. dollars. Following closely behind in third place was "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (2021) with a lifetime gross of about 814 million. "PG-13" means that, according to the Motion Picture Association (MPA), the film contains "[s]ome material [that] may be inappropriate for children under 13".
