Overall, during the given period, the average budget of films made by women was lower than that of films made by men. The highest difference in budget size can be observed in 2008, when the budget of films directed by men was more than twice as high as the budget of films directed by women. However, during the following years the general trend showed a tendency towards closing the existing gap in budgets. Over the decade in consideration, the budget of films by women directors grew by 9.7 percent, while for men it decreased by 18.8 percent.

In 2015, the average budget of films directed by women or co-directed by men and women was 3.5 million euros, whereas for films directed by men the budget was 4.7 million euros, making for an average difference in budgets of 25.5 percent. In 2015, 77.3 percent of
