Energy import dependency rate in Romania 2000-2021

In 2021, energy imports accounted for nearly 32 percent of Romania's total energy needs. The import dependency rate, which is calculated as net imports of energy divided by gross available energy, saw an increase between 2020 and 2021. Over the observed period, Romania was least dependent on energy imports in 2014 and 2015.

The source adds the following information: "The indicator shows the share of total energy needs of a country met by imports from other countries. It is calculated from energy balances as net imports divided by the gross available energy. Energy dependence = (imports – exports) / gross available energy.
Negative value indicates net exporter: country that exports more fuels than it consumes.
Values higher than 100% mostly refer to the build of stocks (increase of fule in stocks), however might be also a result of statistical discrepancies in raw data.."

Data coverage corresponds to code nrg_ind_id of the Energy Unit (E5).
