In the season 2018/2019, the average share of main shareholder's ownership of Serie A soccer clubs in Italy reached 86.5 percent. Similarly, the main shareholder's ownership of Serie B football clubs was almost 86 percent. Italy is part of the biggest top-tier soccer leagues in Europe ("Big Five") with a total revenue of 2.49 billion euros as of the 2018/2019 season.
