Efficiency rate of generics in the U.S. 2007-2012
This statistic displays the efficiency rate of generics in the United States from 2007 to 2012. In 2009, efficiency of generics reached 92.2 percent. Generics for many medications in the United States are available, providing safe and low-cost options of branded products with the same active ingredients. However, patient mistrust and negative views from physicians about generics has inhibited use of generic medications. It is estimated that in 2012, 84 percent of prescriptions in the United States were filled with generics.
