Distribution of workforce in the GCC 2022, by education level
In 2022, around 38 percent of foreign workers in the Gulf Cooperation Council had completed secondary school or higher education. This figure was considerably higher than the 20.4 percent of local citizens in the GCC. By contrast, nearly the same share of foreign workers had less than a secondary school education as those who had at least a secondary school diploma or above, while the same was true for only 3.8 percent of local citizen workers in the GCC.
