Japan: knowledge about foods with health claims by age and gender 2023

According to a survey conducted in Japan in March 2023, over 20 percent of male respondents aged 15 to 19 years knew what foods with health claims were, representing the largest age group. However, on an overall average, female respondents were more aware of such health foods, with 16.9 percent compared to an average of 16.5 percent among men.
Foods with health claims in Japan encompass foods for specified health uses (FOSHU), foods with nutrient function claims (FNFC), and foods with function claims.
