Largest imports share in Africa 2018, by country
As of 2018, South Africa was the largest importing country in Africa, which covered 17 percent of all imports in the region. This accrued an import value of 93 billion U.S. dollars in the country. Furthermore, as of the same year, Egypt ranked second, recording an import share of 14.8 percent. The fifth-largest importer in Africa was the West African country of Nigeria, with imports covering 6.6 of the total share in Africa. This was equivalent to an amount of 36 billion U.S. dollars.
