Share of crowdfunding platforms in China 2020, by type
In April 2020, 36 percent of crowdfunding platforms in China had an equity-based funding model. Not only were reward-based platforms more successful in raising funds, they also accounted for a larger share than the equity-based version. Around seven percent of the platforms were donation-based. In this model, the raised funds were intended for a charitable cause and investors did not receive any return.
