As of the end of April 2020, Australian consumers predicted that their spending would reduce over most categories. In a survey conducted between April 24 and April 26, 80 percent of respondents predicted that spending on restaurants would reduce, compared to three percent who thought it would increase. Elsewhere, 23 percent of respondents estimated that expenditure on groceries would increase, compared to eight percent who thought it would decrease.
