Hospital admissions due to mental health conditions in Brazil 2022, by cause
In 2022, around 66,000 hospital admissions due to schizophrenia were registered in Brazil, the highest number of patient admissions among other mental health conditions at that time. Emotional disorders followed, accounting for around 54,000 hospital admissions in that year. In 2019, schizophrenia contributed to 185.3 years lived with disability (YLDs) per 100,000 population in the South American country.
