Frequency of smokers visiting pachinko parlors with smoking bans in Japan 2018
A survey conducted between November and December 2018 in Japan revealed that almost 37 percent of smokers among pachinko players would visit parlors less frequently, if a smoking ban were implemented inside of an establishment. That year, the Japanese government enforced stricter laws on smoking in public areas in light of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, with intentions of extending a smoking ban to pachinko parlors.
