Nike – Just Do It
Nike is global leader in the athletic footwear and apparel category. Headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, the popular brand generated a revenue of about US$35 billion in 2018. A major chunk of this revenue came from the United States where the corporation spent over US$1 billion on advertising in that year. The brand had over 76,000 employees worldwide in 2019 and there are more than 1150 Nike retail stores around the globe. One reason for Nike’s popularity around the world is the fact that the U.S. brand sponsors famous football players, athletes and professional sport teams to advertise their products. One example for this was the celebration of 30th anniversary of the global player’s famous tagline ‘’Just do it’’ by teaming up with former NFL player Colin Kaepernick in 2018. That campaign helped raise Nike’s value by almost US$6 million and as compared to its leading competitor Adidas, Nike’s brand value was almost 3 times higher in 2019.
