France's presidential elections will take place in April 2022, and while the candidacy of incumbent President Emmanuel Macron leaves little room for doubt, French satisfaction with the head of state remains relatively low. According to the source, the President's popularity rating has fallen by 24 points between his election in May 2017 and July 2021. Prime Minister Jean Castex, in office since July 2020, has dropped from 48 to 40 percent. It also appears that he was less popular with Millennials: only 38 percent were satisfied with him among 18-24 year olds, and 34 percent among 25-34 year olds. The President's popularity rating was also lower among the latter (32 percent versus 38 percent for the national average), but much higher among younger people, nearly half of whom expressed satisfaction with the current head of state.
