LPP and CCC are leading the fashion market
The apparel industry numbered over 10,500 companies in 2022, giving more than 46,000 jobs. At the same time, revenue from apparel production amounted to nearly 5.5 billion zloty, achieving nine percent annual growth. The largest segment of the clothing market in Poland is women's clothing. The fashion industry was dominated by private companies, especially small ones with up to 50 employees. The leader in the Polish clothing industry is LPP, the owner of Reserved, House, Mohito, and Sinsay, among others. In 2022, the LPP group achieved a record profit of nearly 16 billion zloty. The leader of the Polish footwear market was CCC.Online shops such as eobuwie.com.pl, astratex.pl, or ombre.pl are becoming serious competitors for many brick-and-mortar stores in Poland. Leading fashion marketplaces were Allegro and Zalando. Vinted dominated among used clothes platforms.
Growing importance of e-commerce
In 2022 alone, Poles spent a record amount of money on clothes, more than 69.5 billion zloty. They take a pragmatic approach to clothing shopping. More than half of consumers wear clothes for at least a few years before replacing them; if they do, they usually pass them on to someone who will continue using them. Those who buy in brick-and-mortar stores want to touch and see the product before buying it. Also important when buying clothes or shoes is the consumer's style, which they follow. For Poles, the environmental factor is also essential. Producing clothes, shoes, or accessories without chemicals or testing them on animals has been very important.General consumer trends strongly influence the clothing sector. The industry's future is linked to the continuous development of e-commerce and the emergence of new online stores. More than seven in 10 Poles purchased clothes online in 2023. Those who decided to buy clothes and shoes online did so mainly because of the quicker process, a wide selection of products, and ease of purchase.
