Impact of COVID-19 on seasonal migrant worker arrivals in Libya 2020
The coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected the supply of seasonal migrant workers in Libya. According to the survey, 60 percent of the respondents confirmed that there have been fewer arrivals in 2020 compared to the previous years. This decline was due to several reasons, including the restrictions in place in Libya to limit the spread of the virus, and, in relation to this, the reduced employment opportunities in the country. Indeed, seasonal migrant workers are involved in circular migration, meaning that they move regularly from the home to the host country for employment purposes.
